The timer doesnt work and that kind of defeats the purpose of reading with my students to find out their fluency level.

Thank u for a great way to have kids read while on the go when there is a bit of down time! Five stars if there are pictures!
I love this app! It has lots of interesting stories. The kindergarten stories seem more appropriate for first graders though. All three of my kids have been reading the stories.
Great looking app and my kids look forward to seeing more of them!
A well made application that is a must for any parent concerned about their kids education.
Only says "Tested in iOS4". Funny how you would compile another build after only testing... Just yanking your chain. Very nice app!
I like the app. My child likes the app, too. However, without comprehension tests there is no way to know that he is getting what he is reading.
As a teacher and a parent, I think this app is a must!
As an elementary teacher I like this app with one exception. There should be some comprehension questions added. It is great for my students to practice their oral reading by themselves.
Reading apps are really needed and this fills a true void, however reading is about more than rate. Speed without comprehension is useless. The addition of a comprehension component to this app would turn it into a five star ap.
No pics nothing so boring
For the price this is an unbelievable bargain. This is great for basic practicing of emerging decoding & reading skills. Personally Im glad that there are no comprehension questions. The stories are not rich literature, nor are they memorable. However they are fabulous for encouraging basic reading progression.
My grandson like the challenge of reading on a timer. It helps with rhythm of reading.
My daughters 2nd grade teacher recommended this app, which I have found very useful. She does not struggle with comprehension in reading, but does struggle with her out loud reading speed. However, I found that as I was reading along with her on the first time, I did not pay attention to the content of the story. I agree with those that said comprehension questions would be helpful, to be sure the child is not just trying to beat the clock, but understanding as well. Yet, this is a pretty awesome app for aiding in the practice of reading aloud to increase the speed.
This app is well constructed and does exactly what is described. This app targets the component of reading fluency and does so thoroughly and without distraction. I use this in my private practice with students of all ages and I recommend the app to many parents and other reading professionals as well. It keeps track of each student and their information by name and provides pertinent interpretation of data Kids love using the iPad and so, are very motivated to use the app. Users who are criticizing this app for not including items such as comprehension questions and lack of pictures need to read the description of the app again. I would find such items distracting to the intended use of the app. This app is also very well priced and deserves a full 5 star rating.
Perfect app to get back into practice for the upcoming school year. Wish Id found this app at the beginning of summer! I will recommend to friends!
I think this app is great at what it does--giving students the opportunity to independently work on increasing their reading rate and fluency, along with their reading levels. Theyre going to love being able to track their progress, and Ill have a record too. I have other ways of assessing comprehension that I think are much better than the kinds of multiple-choice questions that usually follow reading passages. Im really happy that the comprehension questions arent there, as theyre usually not worth the time they take away from real reading.
This is an absolutely FANTASTIC tool to use in teaching fluency! Different levels, extensive reading lists, WPM tracking saved right in the app - I cant think of anything I would add to make it better, but ........I know some reviewers asked for comprehension questions. Its not a bad idea. You could ask the questions if you wanted to -- or not. A dual-purpose app would only make an already-fabulous app just that much better. Kudos to the designers. Now -- the ONLY thing I cant live without in this app is an iPad version. The text isnt as crisp as Id like it to be. Release it for iPad and I will dance a jig.
This app was misleading. I teach 5th grade and the passages only go to 4th grade. Why is it called k12 then? Also, theres no place for anecdotal notes. Where can I put how many errors they had?
This was a huge disappointment! Reading practice should be connected to authentic text. These passages are all based on one vowel controlled concept rather than real language. Reading that sort of meaningless drivel sends a dangerous message to kids-that reading is mainly about sounding out words. I want my money back.
